Stakes Golf ("we," "our," or "us") operates the Stakes Golf mobile application and the website stakesgolf.com. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our services.

Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and optionally your golf handicap index, gender, and payment usernames (Venmo, Cash App) that you choose to provide.
Usage Data: We collect information about how you use the app, including rounds played, scores entered, games selected, group memberships, and settlement history.
Location Data: With your permission, we collect your approximate location to find nearby golf courses. You can disable location access in your device settings at any time.
Device Information: We collect device type, operating system version, and app version for troubleshooting and analytics purposes.
Waitlist Information: If you sign up for our waitlist, we collect your email address.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, operate, and maintain the Stakes Golf app
- Calculate scores, stakes, and settlements for your rounds
- Display group standings, head-to-head records, and season statistics
- Find golf courses near your location
- Generate payment deep links (Venmo, Cash App) for settlement
- Send you updates about the app if you have opted in
- Improve and develop new features
- Detect and prevent fraud or abuse
3. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information in the following circumstances:
- With Your Group: Other members of your golf groups can see your name, scores, standings, and settlement status within that group.
- Service Providers: We use third-party services (such as Supabase for data storage and analytics providers) that process data on our behalf under strict confidentiality agreements.
- Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Stakes Golf, our users, or others.
4. Payment Information
Stakes Golf does not process, store, or transmit any financial transactions. The app calculates settlement amounts and generates payment links to third-party services (Venmo, Cash App). All actual money transfers occur entirely within those third-party platforms and are subject to their respective terms and privacy policies. We only store the usernames you voluntarily provide for generating these links.
5. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored securely using Supabase, which provides encryption at rest and in transit. We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. However, no method of electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
6. Data Retention
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us. Waitlist email addresses are retained until you unsubscribe or the waitlist is no longer needed.

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new policy in the app and updating the "Effective Date" above. Your continued use of Stakes Golf after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
